Nel corso del 2022, in un periodo ancora profondamente segnato dagli strascichi sanitari e dalle conseguenze emotive della pandemia, Cantabile ha partecipato attivamente a un importante progetto corale i cui esiti sono stati ora pubblicati su Acta Psychologica .
Nell’ambito del progetto Dedalo Vola finanziato da Compagnia di San Paolo, l’ASL e il Comune di Vercelli, insieme all’Università del Piemonte Orientale, hanno proposto attività culturali a persone adulte volontarie, per misurarne gli effetti su un invecchiamento (ma più corretto è il termine inglese, aging) sano. In ambito musicale è stato offerto un corso di coralità di tre mesi a 23 persone volontarie tra 44 e 72 anni, con incontri di 90 minuti un pomeriggio alla settimana. Le misurazioni hanno riguardato sia la dimensione fisiologica, sia la dimensione psicologica. I risultati, ancorché affetti da importanti limitazioni (non essendovi numero sufficiente di partecipanti per costituire un gruppo di controllo, la misurazione si è limitata a un confronto tra pre- e post esperienza), sono stati molto incoraggianti: diminuzione di peso (erano tutti affetti da sindrome metabolica), miglioramento nella saturazione dell’ossigeno e nel ritmo cardiaco, più altre variazioni pur se statisticamente non significative. E’ emersa anche un’autovalutazione di diminuzione dello stress e di soddisfacimento dei bisogni, oltre a una valutazione generale positiva dell’esperienza.
Si tratta dunque di un contributo significativo alla conoscenza un fenomeno che chi canta sente intimamente vero – cantare è bello e fa bene -, ma che nella sua dimensione scientifica, rigorosa e controllata, dovrebbe anche costituire un importante stimolo per i decisori delle politiche della salute e del benessere.
